My Favourite Smoothie Recipes
SMOOTHIES:
As a total non-recipe gal, it was a challenge to come up with actual amounts! Make these your own by modifying the type and amount of “milk” or frozen ingredients depending on how thick you like your smoothies. Use what is seasonal and just have fun experimenting. Nothing can go that wrong!
*Smoothies are not typical fall/winter beverages just due to their cooler nature, and the body tends to crave warmer elixirs, but by adding fewer frozen ingredients, and more warming spices such as cinnamon or even cayenne, you can still enjoy a nice blended drink any time of year!
Choco Bliss – 1 cup coconut milk, heaping tbsp. almond butter, 1 frozen banana, 1 tsp raw cacao powder, dash cinnamon
Sexy Mexi – 3/4 cup coconut milk, ¼ cup cooled brewed espresso or strong coffee, 1 frozen banana, 1 tsp cacao powder, pinch of cayenne powder
Anything But Mellow Yellow – ½ cup water or nut milk of choice, 1 fresh banana, ½ cup frozen pineapple, nub ginger, nub turmeric, dash cinnamon, handful of ice
Freshen Up – 1 cup green tea, ½ frozen pineapple, handful of mint (a definite in the summer or while on a tropical vacation!)
An Ode to India – ½ cup chilled Chai tea, chai actually means tea but I’m adding the word so there is no confusion about using Chai “mix”. Simply steep a chai tea bag or loose tea or boil loose chai seasonings in water, steep, strain and cool. Add 1/4 cup coconut milk, vanilla protein powder, 1/2 frozen banana, honey to taste, optional ice to thicken, garnish with fresh ground cinnamon, nutmeg or shredded coconut. Tip: add honey to tea when steeping because it tends to coagulate and not disperse in cold water.
